About Us

Proclaiming Christ in Word and Sacrament

The Orthodox Anglican Church is a missionary church: orthodox in doctrine, Anglican in practice, and catholic in order.

Our Mission

The Orthodox Anglican Church is a missionary Church. Simply put, this means we are a church seeking to constantly advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ and grow His Kingdom.

We are a member jurisdiction of the Orthodox Anglican Communion, a global movement of Christians committed to the historic faith in the Anglican tradition. We stand for biblical faith and morality, and we believe that loyalty to our Lord is expressed by service to our fellowmen.

Our History

In 2024 the Orthodox Anglican Church marked sixty years as part of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. As the founding jurisdiction of the Orthodox Anglican Communion, it was the first haven for Orthodox Anglicans around the world, and today a new generation of Christians is committed to faithfully proclaiming Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament.

On July 27, 2024, the Most Revd Joshua A. Arena-Gilliam was elected and enthroned as the seventh Presiding Bishop of the Orthodox Anglican Church and Metropolitan Archbishop of the Orthodox Anglican Communion.

What We Believe

The Orthodox Anglican Church believes the following. Read our full statement of beliefs, including the Creeds and Articles.

The Bible is God’s Word written. The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are divinely inspired, and contain all things necessary to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

The Sacraments of the Church are God’s Word in action. The Dominical Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion are ordained by our Lord Jesus Christ for all Christians.

The written Word and the holy Sacraments are joined together and rightly proclaimed in the classic editions of The Book of Common Prayer (editions 1662, 1928 – US, 1929 – Scottish, and 1962 – Canadian).

The Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds are to be taught in the Church and to be received by the Faithful.

Christian Marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman.

The Ordained Ministry of the Church is reserved to godly men.
